Labor is making sure our emergency services have what they need to keep Victorians safe this summer.
Victoria’s volunteer firefighters are getting more water, more equipment and more support ahead of a potentially higher-risk fire season.
The Government is providing a $17 million boost to the CFA for critical firefighting resources.
Minister Edbrooke visited the CFA Bangholme Training Campus to meet volunteer firefighters and see preparations for the season ahead.
The funding will deliver more bulk water tanks – giving crews reliable access to water in areas where surface supplies are limited.
That means less time travelling to refill and more time fighting fires.
The investment will also strengthen diesel fuel security, remove hazardous trees and support firefighters during prolonged operations.
Last year, Labor’s funding established 19 bulk water bases in key locations across the state.
Now, building on its success, 22 more bulk water carriers and tankers will help firefighters and firefighting aircraft get back to the frontline faster.
With Victoria expecting an earlier start to the fire season, Labor is making sure our emergency services are ready before the first major fire hits.
Labor has doubled the investment in emergency services with more than $2.4 billion this year.
The alternative is Jess Wilson’s Liberal-One Nation Coalition who are promising $40 billion in cuts.
That only means one thing: cuts to the frontline emergency services that keep Victorians safe.
