The Carroll Labor Government is making it easier for fans to get to the AFL Grand Final with extra services and half price fares – getting fans to kick off and home safe.
Minister for Public Transport Vicki Ward today announced more train and tram services will run this Friday and Saturday.
For the Grand Final eve public holiday on Friday, all public transport will run to a Saturday timetable.
That means an extra 45 train services and additional tram services to get Lions and Dockers fans to the Grand Final Parade.
On Grand Final day, there will be 79 train services added – 29 prior to the first bounce of the Grand Final, and 50 after the final siren.
Extra trams will operate on Route 48, Routes 70 and 75 – taking fans right to the MCG.
Additional services will be added on the V/Line network, getting fans to and from the game.
Passengers on the Werribee, Laverton and Williamstown lines can also travel directly to Richmond Station by taking a Sandringham-bound train.
Half price fares will make it cheaper for fans to get to and from all the football festivals, parades and the big game.
Fans under 18 are able to catch public transport to the game for free with their Youth myki cards.
