Labor’s West Gate Tunnel chaos continues with latest blowout

Liberal Party Victoria

Victorian families, workers and businesses will continue to be punished for Labor’s incompetence, with yet another blowout on the troubled West Gate Tunnel Project.

The State Budget has revealed a massive $4.7 billion blowout to the West Gate Tunnel – which will now cost $10.2 billion and be delivered 8 years late.

Today’s blowout is real money that could deliver life-changing outcomes for Victorians, including over 548,360 elective surgeries, 31,333 new mental health professionals or 65,225 new teachers.

Instead of supporting local communities to recover and rebuild, Labor’s mismanagement has seen even more opportunities to invest in the services that matter lost.

Leader of the Opposition, Matthew Guy, said the Andrews Labor Government simply cannot be trusted to deliver value for people’s hard earned money.

“Every dollar wasted on Daniel Andrews’ big build blowouts is one dollar less to rebuild our state’s health system.”

“The Liberals and Nationals will cut Labor’s waste, end the cycle of mismanagement, blame and spin and invest to recover, rebuild and make Victoria number one again.”

Shadow Minister for Transport Infrastructure, Matt Bach, said Labor’s waste and mismanagement is continuing to send the state broke.

“Victorians can’t afford another four years of Daniel Andrews’ inability to manage money or major projects.”

“Instead of supporting Victorians to recover and rebuild, Labor continues to waste billions on cost blowouts time and time again, leaving Victorians to pick up the tab.”

Only the Liberals and Nationals will reign in Labor’s out of control major project cost blowouts, and will commit to an urgent independent audit of State Government projects over $100 million in value.
