Land Secured For New East Bentleigh Ambulance Station

VIC Premier

The Andrews Labor Government is boosting ambulance resources in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs, making sure paramedics have the facilities and support they need to quickly respond to local emergencies and save lives.

Minister for Health Martin Foley and Member for Bentleigh Nick Staikos today announced planning is progressing on the new East Bentleigh Ambulance Station, with a site now selected at Moorabbin Hospital campus.

The new multi-million dollar ambulance station will feature a four-bay garage for ambulances, four rest and recline areas for our hard-working paramedics to recuperate, training facilities, a fully equipped kitchen and improved security and car parking to make sure paramedics are safe.

Located near the corner of Gardeners Road and Centre Road the new station will have a central location allowing ease of access to main roads and major sites, including health services, schools, shopping precincts and community facilities.

It is expected the station will help paramedics respond faster to emergencies across Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs including Bentleigh, East Bentleigh and Moorabbin.

Delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA), designs for the new station are underway and a builder to construct the station is expected to be appointed later this year.

The Labor Government has delivered more than $249 million since 2015 to upgrade and rebuild ambulance stations across Victoria – providing better working conditions for paramedics and ensuring all Victorians get the lifesaving emergency care they deserve.

As stated by Minister for Health Martin Foley

“We’re making sure paramedics in East Bentleigh have the facilities to do what they do best – save lives.”

“This project is just one of the countless new, rebuilt or modernised ambulance stations that our Government is delivering across Victoria.

As stated by Member for Bentleigh Nick Staikos

“This modern and advanced ambulance station will help ensure families in and around Bentleigh receive the best lifesaving emergency care, now and into the future.”

“With the preferred site identified, and designs underway, even better emergency care for East Bentleigh families is another step closer.”
