Latrobe City Council has adopted its 2026/27 Budget at its most recent Council meeting.
The Budget presents a balanced cash budget position, placing Council in a strong financial position to support the priorities outlined in the Council Plan and Community Vision 2025-2029, ensuring Council can continue delivering services while investing in projects and facilities that benefit the community.
A total capital works program of $90.4 million has been allocated, including $71.9 million for new projects in 2026/27 and $18.5 million for continuing projects.
Major capital works projects include:
• A multi-use pavilion at Gaskin Park, Churchill
• Community facility upgrades and playground renewals across the municipality
• Preschool renewals at Boolarra and Glengarry
• Public hall renewal works at Newborough and Churchill
• Resurfacing of the Joe Carmody Athletics Track
The Budget also includes funding for a range of services and programs that support local communities, including:
• $3.8 million for road maintenance
• $7.8 million for the presentation and upkeep of public spaces
• $1.5 million for the Community Grants Program
In addition, the 2026/27 Budget provides for the introduction of a Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) kerbside collection service and reducing waste to landfill.
