Statement Regarding National Telstra Outage

The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman is aware of the Telstra outage affecting customers across Australia.

For consumers impacted by the outage and cannot call Triple Zero, we advise you to seek help from a family member, neighbour or friend so they can contact emergency services for you.

Consumers are urged to also try to contact Telstra through social media channels, online chat, or where possible by phone on 13 22 00.

Consumers who have a complaint about the outage and can’t contact Telstra, or they aren’t satisfied with their response should contact us.

Small businesses are advised to keep detailed records of the outage’s effect on their customers and business partners, and any losses incurred.

As stated by Ombudsman Cynthia Gebert:

“We know outages can have serious impacts, especially for people who rely on telecommunications services for their health and safety, and for small businesses that depend on staying connected,” said Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman Cynthia Gebert.

“Small businesses should keep records of any impacts on their operations. If you’re unable to resolve the issue with Telstra, contact the TIO, we’re free and here to help.”
