I am very pleased to announce the appointment of two senior executives to the Heart Foundation’s Executive Leadership Team.
With these appointments, I believe we have brought together a leadership team with the right mix of skills and energy to help the Heart Foundation become an even stronger voice for our sector.
I am pleased to introduce the following new faces to the Heart Foundation team:
Erin Bowen, National Manager Health, Research and Innovation (HRI)
Erin Bowen is a senior policy specialist in health, social policy and public administration, with more than 20 years’ experience in Commonwealth and State Governments and a further five years as a public policy consultant.
One of Erin’s many strengths is her ability problem-solve in complex health environments, often needing to work with a variety of stakeholders to achieve an outcome.
Erin will commence from 4 July and will lead the Heart Foundation’s Health, Research and Innovation team which leads the development and delivery of targeted evidence-based programs to improve heart health, as well as the distribution of our funding to the many cardiovascular researchers around the country that the Heart Foundation supports.
I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Julie-Anne Mitchell for her exemplary leadership of the team over the past 12 months. Julie-Anne will remain involved with us once she returns from a hard earned holiday in a capacity yet to be determined.
Dr Peter Thomas, National Manager Public and Local Affairs
Peter is a highly regarded public affairs professional within the medical research sector. He joins us most recently from six years as Executive Director of the Association of Australian Medical Research Institutes (AAMRI) .
Peter will lead our Public and Local Affairs team comprised of our State Managers and our Advocacy and Media and Communications functions. You will undoubtedly hear from Peter and work with his national team over the coming years.
In this national role, Peter will continue to pursue his passion for improving health outcomes for all Australians through advocating for positive policy changes and delivering better services to the people who need them. Peter is looking forward to joining our team on August 8.
