Leisuretime Sports Precinct making an impact in community

The Leisuretime Sports Precinct has released its 2018-2019 Annual Report overview and highlight the important role such facilities play in the local community.

Leisuretime has a range of
indoor and outdoor sporting facilities the help encourage
the community to come together, connect and thrive.

The precinct is predominantly a
participation-focused facility for the local community.

The 2018-2019 financial
year seen 109 clubs, community groups and organisations utilise facilities
onsite as well as 157,000 locals visit the precinct to maintain
their physical and mental health and wellbeing needs.

Some of the key stats for 2018-19 include:

  • 157,909 Visitations by the local Geelong community
  • 21,012 hours of community sport and physical activity took place
    at the precinct
  • 109 sporting clubs and community groups operated a competition,
    activity, program or training sessions (22%
    increase from the previous year)
  • 2000 plus hours of School Sport was played
  • 629 Hours of all-ability and/or wheelchair sport took place
  • 1,278 hours of meetings, training, education and professional
    development sessions were held at the precinct
  • 94 NEW Soccer Referees completed an official Football Victoria
    training courses at the Precinct – Helping to grow the game locally
  • 51% of our junior sport players live within 5 kilometres of the precinct –
    helping to get the Northern suburbs younger generations more active,
    happier and healthier.
  • We developed and/or maintained relationships with 8 Local Service
    providers we worked with to help those disadvantaged or less fortunate in
    our community
  • 25 Refugee youth (aged 14-18
    years) were involved in a project developed to use sport to address
    and promote equal opportunity and access
  • 32 Events were hosted
  • 55 Females aged 13 – 25 years participated in our ‘Rotary of Corio
    Bay’ Futsal project – Only three players having played soccer before and
    15 of the 55 have now joined an outdoor soccer club for the 2019 season
  • 57 First Aid Training courses and CPR Updates were held
  • 13 Football Victoria outdoor club competition games were played and 1,052 hours of club usage also took place on the pitch
  • 671 Games were managed and delivered by precinct management. (380
    Futsal Geelong games and 291 Soccer Sevens games)
  • 103 Kids aged between four and nine years played for the first time in
    our Miniroos Kick-Off program on the FIFA standard outdoor synthetic pitch
  • 2,378 Casual Basketballers accessed the courts to shoot hoops (31% increase on the previous
    year)
