Shadow Minister for Community Services and Victim Support Nick McGowan will assume responsibility as spokesman for Fire Rescue Victoria (Metropolitan), further strengthening the Liberals and Nationals’ commitment to keeping Victorians safe.
Mr McGowan will work closely with The Nationals Leader and Shadow Minister for Emergency Services Danny O’Brien to co-ordinate a statewide focus on fire safety and hold the Allan Labor Government to account.
Leader of the Opposition Brad Battin said: “There are 47 fire stations across metropolitan Melbourne saving lives and property from fire.
“Nick will work tirelessly to understand their needs and ensure the Liberals and Nationals develop policies that support and respect our first responders.”
Spokesman for Fire Rescue Victoria Nick McGowan said: “I look forward to working with FRV, the union, stakeholders, businesses and the community to advocate for the best fire service in every Victorian’s best interest.”
