Liberals desperate attempt to salvage Bridgewater Bridge project

Tasmanian Labor
  • Liberals to spend $121,429+ to salvage project stakeholder communications
  • Liberals don’t have the skill or the will to deliver major infrastructure projects
  • Bridgewater Bridge project falling victim to Ferguson’s trademark kiss of death
  • The Liberals will do anything to cover up their lack of action on infrastructure projects – including pay someone $121,429+ per annum to salvage stakeholder communications relating to the troubled Bridgewater Bridge replacement.

Shadow Infrastructure Minister, Shane Broad, said the Liberals’ continued mismanagement of the proposed $576 million Bridgewater Bridge replacement is farcical.

“It took the Liberals until January 2020 before deciding it would be a good idea to employ a Project Director and issue a tender for the necessary geotechnical work for the Bridgewater Bridge project, which was supposed to begin as early as 2019,” Dr Broad said.

“The Liberals don’t have the skill or the will to deliver major infrastructure projects and have so badly mismanaged this project that they now need a spin doctor to salvage any credibility they have left when it comes to getting the job done.

“It is clear the Bridgewater Bridge project is falling victim to Michael Ferguson’s trademark incompetence.

“Can we expect the Liberals to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on communications staff for the fifth lane on the southern outlet or the underground bus mall too?

“The Bridgewater Bridge has become a testament to the Liberal Government’s total mismanagement of major infrastructure projects.”
