  • Liberals cruel cuts continue to hurt Tasmanians
  • The Hodgman Government must reverse its cruel decision to cut support for people living with a disability.

Will Hodgman’s cuts to the Passenger Transport Subsidy Scheme means Tasmanians with a disability will no longer be able to depend on the state’s taxis for transport.

Shadow Minister for Transport, Anita Dow, said that the Government’s decision was heartless and would make life harder for Tasmanians in need.

“The Government’s decision to cut the Passenger Transport Subsidy Scheme for Tasmanians is cruel and illogical,” Ms Dow said

“Without taxi subsidies, many Tasmanians with a disability will simply not be able to afford transport, preventing them from accessing the care and support they need.

“The Government is essentially shutting Tasmanian’s with a disability out of their community by leaving them unable to travel to medical appointments, work, access services or do shopping and see friends.

Labor has today launched a petition calling on the Liberal Government to reverse its decision to make cuts to the Passenger Transport Subsidy Scheme.

“The Hodgman Government must show compassion and reverse its decision to cut support for people living with a disability.”
