Life changing and life saving opportunities at TAFE Queensland

Minister for Employment and Small Business and Minister for Training and Skills Development The Honourable Di Farmer

TAFE Queensland is helping to ramp up the COVID-19 vaccination roll out with nearly 68,000 doses delivered on campuses across the state.

Minister for Training and Skills Development Di Farmer said nine campuses, from Inala to Townsville, had been offering COVID-19 vaccinations on site.

“Everyone knows that TAFE Queensland offers life changing opportunities through their award-winning training, but they’re providing lifesaving opportunities through their vaccination hubs too,” Minister Farmer said.

“Alongside our Queensland Health hubs, GPs, community pharmacies and more, it’s yet another way for Queenslanders to get us up to the vital 70% and 80% targets and opening our borders up on December 17.

“So far, nearly 68,000 doses of vaccine have been delivered in Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Inala, Loganlea and Pimlico (Townsville).

“The pop-up clinics have made vaccinations easily accessible to so many.

“Last month, I visited the mobile COVID-19 vaccine hub at the Loganlea TAFE campus which was helping migrant and refugee students get the jab.

“The hub was part of the joint venture between TAFE Queensland, Queensland Health and the Mater Refugee Health Service and helped more than 300 students get fully vaccinated.”

Hubs have been, or will be, at the following campuses: Bundaberg; Hervey Bay; Loganlea; Inala; Bohle (Townsville); Pimlico (Townsville); Toowoomba; Ipswich; Mt Isa.

COVID vaccination information sessions are also planned for South Bank, Bracken Ridge, Mt Gravatt, Mooloolaba, and Southport campuses.
