Linkage Projects demonstrate research impact

New Australian Research Council Linkage Project grants have demonstrated Griffith University’s role in leading research initiatives impacting the community with the latest round of funding showcasing Griffith’s expertise in education, law, business and science.

Dr Glenda McGregor, Dr Aspa Baroutsis (AEL) and Professor Martin Mills (University College London) were awarded $154,060 for the project Supporting teachers and teaching in flexible and non-traditional schools (Partner Organisations – Edmund Rice Education Australia; Community Learning Ltd; and Youthinc).

Professor Charles Sampford, (AEL), Associate Professor Sacha Reid (Business), Professor Rodney Stewart, Associate Professor Cheryl Desha, Professor Paul Burton (Sciences), Prof Keith Hampson, Prof John Phillimore (Curtin University), A/Prof Hazel Easthope, Prof Michael Ostwald (UNSW), Prof Kerry London (Western Sydney University), Ms Roxane Shaw (Professional Standards Council), Mr Nabil Yazdani (Department Of Mines, Industry Regulation And Safety), Mr Andrew Lumsden (Corrs Chambers Westgarth) awarded $540,750 for the project Constructing Building Integrity: Raising standards through professionalism (Partner Organisations – Professional Standards Council, Department Of Mines, Industry Regulation And Safety, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Department Of Housing & Public Works).

Dr Jarrod Trevathan, Professor Abdul Sattar, Professor Paulo de Souza (Sciences) and Mr Anthony Sharrp (Substation 33) awarded $390,000 for the project A Socially Conscious Smart IoT Platform for Water Quality Monitoring (Partner Organisation -Substation 33).

Professor Michele Burford, Prof Anthony Carroll (Sciences), Dr Paul Maxwell (Healthy Land And Water Ltd), Dr Joanne Burton (Department of Environment and Science ) awarded $640,121 for the project Innovative tools needed for market-based nutrient offsetting (Partner Organisations – Department of Environment and Science, Healthy Land And Water Ltd, Sydney Water Corporation, Central Seq Distributor-Retailer Authority).

Professor Junwei Lu, Associate Professor Fuwen Yang (Sciences), Prof Peter Wolfs (Central Queensland University), A/Prof Md. Jahangir Hossain (Macquarie University) awarded $449,796.00 for the project Advanced Microgrids for Residential, Commercial and Industry Buildings (Partner Organisations – Planet Ark Power).

These announcements follow last month’s ARC Linkage Project announcement of a $236,000 grant awarded to a study led by Professor Adrian Wilkinson (Griffith Business School) for the project Exploring the Role and Outcomes of Employee Voice in a Hospital Setting (awarded $236,000).
