Liverpool: Home to Season 9 of Voice

The capital of the great South West is now home to the Nine Network’s popular entertainment series, The Voice.

“Council is excited for The Voice S9 to make Liverpool its new home, setting a precedent for other large-scale television and film productions to come to our great city in the future,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.

“Having such a popular television series produced in Liverpool demonstrates that we are open for business and can play a role in supporting Australia’s thriving arts, culture, media and entertainment industry.

“Liverpool is Sydney’s third CBD and we are the gateway to the new Western Sydney International Airport.

“Our economy is as diverse as our community, with a gross regional product of $11.33 billion across a myriad of industries including healthcare, education, public administration, manufacturing and retail.”

David Mott, CEO and Managing Director of ITV Studios Australia, the production company behind The Voice, said Liverpool provided the answer to Sydney’s lack of studio space to produce the latest series.

“The large warehouse in Moorebank presented a fantastic opportunity for us to purpose-build a working studio of such a scale unlike anything that already exists in Sydney,” he said.

“We look forward to showcasing a new wave of talented singers in season nine and wish to thank Liverpool City Council for their support. They have been incredibly welcoming.”

One of Liverpool’s own made it through to the finals of the eighth season of The Voice in 2019.

“Lara Dabbagh is a South West Sydney singing sensation who has performed at many Council community events including Australia Day,” Mayor Waller said.

“On behalf of Councillors, staff and the community, I congratulate Lara on her success and wish her the best for her future career.

“Council proudly fosters the talents of Western Sydney artists and performers through its numerous community events and festivals, exhibitions and workshops at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, its artists-in-residence program and its long-term city activation program to strengthen Liverpool’s night-time economy.”

Filming commenced at Moorebank in February this year. The first episode of The Voice S9 will air on the Nine Network soon.
