Liverpool regeneration projects in running for development awards

Two projects supporting the revitalisation of Liverpool in Sydney’s growing South West are up for 2020 Urban Developer Industry Excellence Awards.

Liverpool City Council’s Liverpool City Centre Public Domain Master Plan is a finalist in the Excellence in Community Engagement category, while Coronation Property’s The Paper Mill Food development in the Shepherd Street precinct of Liverpool is a finalist in the category of Development of the Year – Retail.

“I am delighted to hear these two significant projects, which are playing a role in reinvigorating Liverpool’s public realm and enhancing the city’s liveability, have been recognised as award finalists,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.

“The Liverpool City Centre Public Domain Master Plan is Council’s 10-year vision to guide the development of public space and pave the way to a greener, more vibrant and active city centre while fostering an 18-hour economy.

“Staff worked closely with the community through face-to-face consultations and online community feedback surveys to come up with a blueprint for our CBD that includes wider footpaths and dedicated cycleways, better lighting and furniture, more public art, street trees and vegetation.

“I’d like to extend my congratulations to the staff who worked on our master plan and to Coronation Property for the retail component of their mixed-use Paper Mill development, which has helped to enhance the character of the Shepherd Street precinct on the banks of the Georges River in Liverpool’s south.”

The 2020 Urban Developer Industry Excellence Award winners will be announced between 23 November and 18 December 2020.
