Local Government Week focuses on Your Council

Councils across NSW are gearing up for Local Government Week and Local Government NSW (LGNSW) is encouraging communities to get involved.

Local Government Week starts on Monday 29 July and runs until Sunday 4 August.

LGNSW President Linda Scott said councils were always striving to provide services that were beneficial for their individual communities, so it was important for residents to know the expertise their council offers.

“From open green space and sustainability, to managing water, childcare centres, parks and sporting fields, roads and bicycle paths, citizenship ceremonies to fire safety checks to pet registration – local governments are embedded in people’s lives for the public good,” Clr Scott said.

“Local Government Week provides the perfect opportunity to promote the importance of councils to residents, ratepayers, businesses – the whole community.’

This year’s theme is Your Council and councils across the state are joining in, with special events, tours, open days and more.
