- Three Western Australian charities to share in $867,000 in donations
- Donation funds raised through Metropolitan Cemeteries Board’s Surgical Metals Recycling Program
- Donations help local charities continue to deliver vital services
Three Western Australian charities will share in $867,000 in donations raised through the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board’s (MCB) Surgical Metals Recycling Program.
The program provides for the respectful recycling of surgical metals recovered following cremations. The materials are processed by OrthoMetals, a Netherlands-based company with extensive experience in the collection and recycling of special metals from crematoria around the world.
Since the program began in 2013, it has generated more than $4.35 million in charitable donations, delivering lasting benefits to the Western Australian community.
The $867,000 of proceeds from the latest shipment of recyclable surgical metals will be donated to:
- Cancer Council WA;
- Lifeline WA; and
- Ronald McDonald House Charities WA.
These organisations provide invaluable services and support to Western Australians and their families, and this significant contribution will help them continue their important work.
The initiative demonstrates how environmentally responsible practices can deliver meaningful social outcomes, transforming recovered materials into practical support for community-based organisations.
