Two Mt Gambier locals John Dempsey and Simon van Ginneken will travel to Sydney next week to compete as a finalist in Hino Motor Sales Australia’s National Skills Contest.
With three top-six performances to his name, Dempsey, who works as a service technician at Barry Maney Hino will compete against rivals from around Australia in a competition attended by senior Hino representatives from Australia and Japan.
He will be joined by van Ginneken, a parts interpreter, who will compete in the finals for the first time.
After a COVID-enforced hiatus for the last two years, the 2022 Skills Contest final is scheduled for 17th November and will be held following several months of intense competition with the winner in each category (Parts, Service and Sales) receiving a cash prize and an ultimate VIP experience at the 2023 Repco Supercars Newcastle event.
