Construction of the Ellenbrook Youth Centre is well and truly underway, with the drainage, footings and concrete slab installation now complete.
In June 2022, local young people joined the City of Swan’s Youth Development team on a site visit to inspect the recent works.
The young people were given plans and a tour by construction supervisors to see the centre taking shape firsthand.
Debbie McCabe, City of Swan Coordinator Youth Development said the site visit is one of the many ways the City is ensuring local young people are involved with the Ellenbrook Youth Centre project.
“Young people have been an integral part of the planning process since the feasibility study was started in 2017,” said Debbie.
“They have taken a keen interest in the project and have provided valuable feedback and insight into the proposed layout for the Youth Centre, as well as ideas for programs.
“Giving young people the opportunity to see the youth centre as it is being built and finding out what they want most means that the end result will be a facility that young people can have ownership and be proud of.”
Scheduled for completion by mid-2023, the much-awaited centre will provide a safe space for young people in Ellenbrook and surrounding suburbs to socialise, connect, engage and participate in a range of health, wellbeing and development activities.
