Northern Territory Police are urging residents to ensure their vehicle is locked and keys are secured after a number of vehicles were stolen from Territory homes overnight.
Seven vehicles were stolen from residential properties in Coconut Grove, Brinkin, Casuarina, Lyons, and Leanyer in the past 48 hours.
The following vehicles have been stolen and remain outstanding;
- A Holden Commodore wagon, with NT registration ‘TENPIN’ stolen from Casuarina yesterday
- A Honda Jazz hatchback with NT registration ‘951495’ stolen from Leanyer overnight
- A White Holden Commodore wagon with NT registration ‘CB06BH’ stolen from Rapid Creek last night.
- A Silver Toyota Corolla hatchback with NT ‘496247’ stolen from Tiwi last night
Detective Senior Sergeant Rob Jordan of Strike Force Trident said a number of Territorians woke up to discover their home had been unlawfully entered and their vehicles stolen.
“As always, police are working to ensure those responsible are held accountable,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Jordan
“However in doing our bit we also urge residents to make sure they are not making it easy for these offenders. Please make sure you are not leaving your car keys in the ignition or leaving the spare set in the glove box or center console.”
“Secure your home, even if you are there. Opportunistic offenders have no qualms in trying a door or window regardless as to whether someone is home.”
Throughout the same time period, four vehicles were stolen in Alice Springs, three of which have been recovered.
A blue Mitsubishi Pajero with NT registration 786 246 stolen from the Gillen area yesterday remains outstanding.
