Machete wielding man robs hotel, South Australia

Police are searching for a man after he robbed a hotel at Globe Derby last night.

Just after 9pm on Wednesday 18 May, police were called to Globe Derby Trotting Track at Globe Derby after a man robbed the hotel and fled with thousands of dollars of cash.

The offender entered the hotel and approached two staff members armed with a machete. He threatened the women and made them open the safe and remove a large amount of cash and place it in a duffle bag.

The staff members were shaken by the incident but thankfully not physically injured.

Patrols and PolAir attended and searched the area for the suspect, who was wearing a black hooded jumper, dark coloured pants with his face covered.

Northern District CIB detectives and crime scene investigators attended and examined the scene.
