Macleay River rising again

Kempsey Shire Council

flood event info graphic

Low lying areas are advised to prepare for a rise in the Macleay River as a peak moves downstream following heavy rain in the catchment area.

Kempsey Shire Council has recorded another rise in the Macleay River after recent events, and expect this to result in further closures of bridges that cross the Macleay River.

As this peak progresses downstream, closure of the following bridges that cross the Macleay River is possible:

  • Bellbrook Bridge
  • Toorooka Bridge
  • Temagog Bridge
  • Turners Flat Bridge (lower likelihood at this stage)

Council staff will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
