Maitland+10, looking toward 2032

Maitland City Council

Council is looking toward 2032 and wants input from all residents to help confirm the community’s goals for the next decade.

It’s been ten years since the first community strategic plan was prepared. Over that time, it has guided the expansion of Council programs in areas such as events and place activation and set the agenda for major projects, including the redevelopment of The Levee and The Riverlink building, Maitland Regional Sports Complex and the indoor pool at Maitland Aquatic Centre.

Council is calling on the community to participate in the review process to guide the development of an updated ten year plan.

Mayor of Maitland, Cr Loretta Baker says, ‘Council conducts regular reviews of Maitland +10 and currently, we are building on the feedback residents have provided over the past 18 months. We’ve heard that our residents are keen to support community and economic growth but want to manage the impact of population growth on the environment, our social connections, and movement across the city.

We’re asking the community, ‘have we got it right?’ I encourage everyone to get involved in the review and help to shape this important document that will inform our delivery programming as Council, and also importantly advocacy to other levels of government in addressing the needs of our community over the next ten years.’ Residents are encouraged to have their say on what is proposed under the four focus areas of Let’s Connect, Let’s Grow, Let’s Sustain, and Let’s Lead, and provide their ideas by visiting the interactive discussion board online and via a survey at maitland.mysocialpinpoint.com/maitland10

The Maitland +10 focus areas are open for community comment until Sunday 10 October, and resident feedback will help inform the development of the draft revised community strategic plan, which will be exhibited for final public feedback in April next year.

Online form submission, email and letters addressed to the General Manager are also avenues available to those who wish to provide feedback on the direction of Maitland’s future.

Maitland +10 provides a single point of reference for residents, Council, state government agencies, community groups, non-government organisations, businesses and individuals, who all work together to plan and build our ideal future.

‘We want to know what matters to our community. This is an opportunity to check in and make sure we have captured the key priorities they want us to work on together so Council can continue to deliver on the things that matter to our community.
