Major Drug Squad charge five after heroin trafficking investigation

Major Drug Squad detectives have charged five people and seized a substantial quantity of high value luxury goods following an investigation into a Malaysian syndicate linked to trafficking commercial quantities of heroin.

Police executed search warrants early Tuesday morning at six residential addresses in Box Hill, Springvale, Braybrook (3) and Dingley Village.

They subsequently seized a significant quantity of cash, multiple Rolex watches, loose diamonds, a large commercial quantity of heroin, a hydraulic pill press, cash counting machines, an Audi SUV, a Lexus sedan, various drugs including cannabis, methylamphetamine, cocaine and ketamine, as well as a large number of luxury goods, including handbags, clothing and jewellery.

A 27-year-old Braybrook man was today charged with trafficking large commercial quantity of heroin and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

He will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this evening.

A 29-year-old Box Hill man was charged with trafficking large commercial quantity of heroin and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

A 27-year-old Springvale man and a 49-year-old Dingley Village woman were charged with trafficking large commercial quantity of heroin.

All three have been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 26 September.

A 72-year-old Queensland man was charged on 12 May with trafficking large commercial quantity of heroin.

He will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 4 August.

A further seven people are expected to be charged on summons with various drug and possess proceeds of crime related offences.
