We have published a list of major employers in the Barwon region.
It is estimated that medium to large enterprises generate 70% of the Barwon regions revenue.
Categorised by industry, the Major Employers Barwon Region 2022 list is a snapshot of some of the largest employers in our region, based on survey results.
The list reveals that the majority of the region’s top 20 largest employers operate within the healthcare, education and government sectors.
The ten largest employers listed are:
- Barwon Health (4,944 FTE)
- Department of Education and Training (3,474 FTE)
- Deakin University (2,004 FTE)
- genU (1,848 FTE)
- City of Greater Geelong (1,712 FTE)
- Cotton On (1,429 FTE)
- Catholic Education System (1,301 FTE)
- WorkSafe (1,043 FTE)
- Barwon Prison Precinct (915 FTE)
- Transport Accident Commission (TAC) (819 FTE)
The Barwon region includes the local government areas of: The City of Greater Geelong, Colac Otway Shire, Golden Plains Shire, Surf Coast Shire and Borough of Queenscliffe.
