Make a difference in your community

An exciting event is coming up on Thursday 19 May 2022; the RU Volunteering Expo.

The expo aims to showcase volunteering opportunities in the Tamworth region to those who may be interested with a range of organisations holding stalls to exhibit what they have to offer.

Team Leader of Council’s Inclusive Community team, Katey Allwell said, “Volunteers are the back bone of our community, assisting in a range of roles across sporting organisations, school groups, service organisations, community groups, aged care services, health and wellbeing services, parks, gardens and outdoor services, and arts and culture services.”

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many organisations have found it difficult to recruit volunteers and this expo aims to assist in bringing some attention to volunteering and the rewarding opportunities that are available.”

Individuals, seniors, youth, and new and existing residents are encouraged to attend and get involved in a range of roles which may suit their interests and skill sets.

“Volunteers come in all ages, abilities, backgrounds and with different experience levels,” said Mrs Allwell.

Volunteers contribute to resilient communities, and are important in the delivery of Council’s Blueprint 100 Strategy.

The expo will form part of National Volunteer Week which encompasses the theme ‘Better Together and gives us a chance to say thank you and celebrate the hard work of volunteers in our region.

Community members who are interested in volunteering should come along to the expo between 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Lands Building at 25-27 Fitzroy Street, Tamworth.
