The Hobsons Bay community is encouraged to ‘make things happen’ with Council’s new Make It Happen – Recovery and Reconnection Grants Program.

Announced in August as part of Council’s Community Support Package 3 in its 2020-21 budget, $500,000 is allocated to the round. Funding will support community-led recovery and reconnection programs as we all learn about, work through and adapt to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Hobsons Bay.

With monthly assessments through to May 2021, the program is designed to ensure funds go to the community quickly and with as much flexibility as possible. Groups will have until June 2022 to complete their project, event or activity.

Applications can be made for funds between $500 and $25,000. The program will provide support to enable activities, projects, programs, events and resources across all sectors including environment, sustainability, sports and recreation, culture, multicultural, community and neighbourhood development.

The Make It Happen – Recovery and Reconnection Grant is also taking an important step to bring multiple Hobsons Bay City Council funding streams into one, including the Hobsons Bay Environmental Grants, Hobsons Bay Events and Festivals Funding and Quick Response Grants (the remaining grants in the Community Grants program). This will simplify Hobsons Bay grants helping the Hobsons Bay community make things happen faster.
