A man has been arrested by police after he rammed two police cars in Geelong overnight.
The incident unfolded when officers from Corio attempted to intercept the motorist at a service station on Thompsons Road, following a routine check, about 10.30pm.
The driver was filling up his car when a check of the registration plate revealed the plates to be false.
Police pulled their vehicles to the front and rear of the Holden sedan and asked the driver to stop so they could speak with him.
The 20-year-old man jumped into his car and allegedly reversed and then drove forward into both police cars in an attempt to leave the scene.
Police smashed the windows of the car and deployed OC spray to arrest the man who allegedly failed to comply with any instruction by police to turn off and stop the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a quantity of drugs and significant quantity of cash.
The Winchelsea man is expected to be charged with a number of offences including; reckless conduct endanger serious injury, aggravated intentional exposure of police officer to risk by driving, commit indictable offence whilst on bail, drive whilst disqualified, possess cannabis, fraudulently use registration plate, theft and fail to stop on police request and resist officer.
He will be held over to appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court today.
