Man arrested & firearms located after fleeing stolen motorbike

Brimbank Highway Patrol officers arrested a man in Derrimut last night after he fled an allegedly stolen motorbike.

The officers were patrolling Mt Derrimut Road on Friday, 24 December about 11pm when they noticed a Yamaha motorbike riding in a convenience store carpark.

The officers activated their lights and attempted to speak with the rider. It’s alleged the motorbike has then deliberately collided with the police vehicle in an attempt to avoid police.

The rider then allegedly ran from the motorbike and was arrested a few metres away.

A 36-year-old Kings Park man was charged with several offences including theft of motor vehicle, prohibited person possess firearm, traffick firearms, resist arrest and traffic offences.
