Man arrested, two injured following break and enter near Wagga Wagga, NSW

Police are investigating after a man was arrested and two were injured during a break and enter near Wagga Wagga this morning.

Police have been told about 12.30am (Friday 4 January 2019), a 42-year-old man forced his way into a home on Phillip Avenue, Mount Austin, before confronting the residents, a 52-year-old man, and two women, aged 46 and 26.

The two men began fighting inside the home, which then continued into the street.

Police were called before officers from Riverina Police District attended the scene.

The older man was found outside on the street unconscious, with serious injuries to his head, and the younger man was found nearby with serious head injuries.

Both men were treated at the scene before being taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, where the younger man remains under police guard.

The older man has been flown to Canberra Hospital for further treatment.

The 46-year-old woman also sustained minor injuries to her face as a result of the incident.

A crime scene has been established on Phillip Avenue, and as inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
