Man assisting police after hit-run at WIlliamstown

A man has handed himself into police following an alleged hit and run collision involving a pedestrian in Williamstown this morning.

A 27-year-old Moonee Ponds man was jogging southbound on Douglas Parade when the collision occurred about 6.10am.

The driver allegedly failed to stop at the scene and the man was assisted by a nearby walker who contacted emergency services.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A 21-year-old Williamstown man has since presented to a police station and is assisting investigators with their enquiries.
