Man charged after investigation into road rage assault – Belmore

A man will face court today charged over an alleged road rage incident in Sydney’s south west last month.

About 7.20pm on Sunday 28 May 2023, emergency services responded to reports of an assault between two motorists on Peel Street, Belmore.

Officers from Campsie Police Area Command were informed that the driver of a Hyundai Getz – a 47-year-old man – was allegedly assaulted by the driver of a Ford Raptor.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the Ford left the scene prior to the arrival of police.

Following inquiries, detectives attended a unit in Sproule Street, Lakemba, and arrested a 34-year-old man about 9.30pm yesterday (Monday 19 June 2023).

He was taken to Campsie Police Station and charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Tuesday 20 June 2023).

The older man remains in a serious but stable condition at St George Hospital.
