Man charged following investigation into historical sexual abuse offences – Strike Force Twill

A man has been charged following an investigation into the alleged historical sexual abuse of children in the state’s Hawkesbury region during the 1980s.

Detectives attached to Hawkesbury Police Area Command established Strike Force Twill in October 2022, following a number of reports of alleged child sex abuse that occurred at a holiday park in Wisemans Ferry.

Police have been told between the years 1982 and 1987, a resident of a holiday park allegedly sexually assaulted a number of young boys.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 60-year-old man in Wisemans Ferry, about 9am Thursday (20 July 2023).

He was charged with 22 child sexual assault offences and one count of common assault.

He was refused bail and appeared at Penrith Local Court on Friday (21 July 2023), to reappear at the same court on Friday 29 September 2023.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone who may be able to assist detectives, including anyone who holidayed in the area at that time and witnessed suspicious behaviour.
