Man charged over a pursuit, and multiple break-ins and vehicle thefts – Strike Force Sweetenham

Detectives from Strike Force Sweetenham have charged a man over a pursuit, and multiple break-ins and vehicle thefts across Sydney.

Around 10pm on Monday 4 November 2023, a home on Kedron Street, Glenbrook, was broken into and a white Volkswagen Amarok was stolen from the property.

Around 2.30am on Monday 6 November 2023, a white Volkswagen Amarok rammed the front of the showroom at Tattersall Road, Kings Park, where five people entered the showroom and removed four motorcycles before leaving the scene in the utility.

Around 6.30pm on Friday 1 December 2023, a black BMW X5 was stolen from a home on Fitton Street, Doonside.

Around 11pm the same day, police were patrolling the Cranebrook area, when they attempted to stop the reported stolen black BMW X5.

A pursuit was initiated after the driver failed to stop the vehicle; however, the pursuit was terminated due to safety issues.

Around 10am today (Friday 15 December 2023), investigators from Strike Force Sweetenham attended a hotel on Ocean View Drive, Terrigal, where they arrested an 18-year-old man.

He was taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged with:

  • Two counts of aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence
  • Two counts of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner
  • Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner
  • Four counts of steal motor vehicle
  • Receive motor vehicle part theft serious indictable offence greater than $5000
  • Attempt dispose motor vehicle part theft serious indictable greater than $5000
  • Larceny value greater than $15,000
  • Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly

The man was bail refused to appear before Newcastle Local Court tomorrow (Saturday 16 December 2023).
