Man charged over alleged charity cash theft at Town Hall Station – Police Transport Command

A man will face court after cash was allegedly taken from a charity cash box at a railway station in Sydney’s CBD earlier this month.

On Saturday 27 December 2025, officers attached to Police Transport Command commenced an investigation following reports of a man took cash from a charity box and left the scene while a band was playing in Town Hall Station, at about 6pm on Tuesday 9 December 2025.

Following inquiries, about 1pm yesterday (Sunday 28 December 2025), police arrested a 50-year-old man in Kings Cross area.

He was taken to Kings Cross Police Station where he was charged with larceny.

He was refused bail to appear at Bail Divicion Court 7 today (Monday 29 December 2025).
