Man charged over break and enter near Wagga Wagga, NSW

A man will face court today after being charged over an alleged break and enter near Wagga Wagga yesterday.

Police have been told about 12.30am (Friday 4 January 2019), a 42-year-old man forced his way into a home on Phillip Avenue, Mount Austin, before confronting the residents, a 52-year-old man, and two women, aged 46 and 26.

The two men were allegedly involved in an altercation, and both sustained serious head injuries.

The 46-year-old woman also sustained minor injuries to her face.

The 52-year-old man was flown to Canberra Hospital for further treatment.

The 42-year-old man was treated at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital whilst under police guard.

Officers from Riverina Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, the 42-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break enter and steal and commit serious indictable offence-inflict actual bodily harm, common assault, cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent and destroy or damage property.

He was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Bail Court today (Saturday 5 January 2019).
