Man charged over jewellery store and service station robberies, NSW

A man has been charged following two alleged armed robberies in Sydney’s west yesterday.

About 3.25pm (Monday 28 January 2019), a man entered a jewellery store inside a shopping complex in Mt Druitt. It’s alleged he grabbed two gold chains from a shop attendant with a total value of $20,000 and ran from the store.

The female employee suffered minor injuries to her hands during the robbery.

Later that day, about 5.20pm (Monday 28 January 2019), police were called to a service station on North Parade, near Carlisle Avenue, Mount Druitt, after reports of an armed robbery.

Police have been told a man entered the service station and threatened the attendant with a knife.

He allegedly stole cash and cigarettes, before leaving on foot.

The attendant was not injured.

Officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, about 6.30pm, a 20-year-old man was arrested in a carpark on North Parade.

He was taken to Riverstone Police Station where he was charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon and aggravated robbery inflict actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail and will appear in Mt Druitt Local Court today (Tuesday 20 January 2019).
