Brisbane and Kingaroy detectives have charged a man with 42 offences following investigations into property crime and car theft offences.
It will be alleged between 4 September to 11 September, an 18-year-old Murgon man committed numerous offences across Brisbane and Kingaroy.
Suburbs where offences were allegedly committed included Ascot, Camp Hill, Carina Heights, Clayfield, Coopers Plains, Coorparoo, Hamilton, Heathwood, Holland Park, Inala, Kingaroy, Margate, Moorooka, Murarrie, Oxley, Pullenvale, Stones Corner, Sunnybank, Wavell Heights, Wooloowin, and Yeerongpilly.
Extensive investigations into the offences were conducted by property crime teams from Upper Mount Gravatt, Holland Park, Hendra, Carseldine, Centenary, and Indooroopilly and Kingaroy Criminal Investigation Branch.
On 11 September, investigators arrested the man on Acacia Street in Heathwood with the assistance of POLAIR and Brisbane Dog Squad.
The 18-year-old Murgon man was charged with a total of 42 offences including six counts of enter dwelling and commit, five counts of attempted enter dwelling with intent at night in company, three counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle (UUMV) – use in company, enter premises and commit indictable offence, and enter dwelling with intent, two counts each of attempted enter dwelling with intent at night whilst armed in company, enter dwelling with intent at night, UUMV – use, UUMV – used for indictable offence in company, and stealing, and one count each of attempted enter dwelling with intent at night in company damages property, attempted enter dwelling with intent in company, attempted enter dwelling with intent, enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, enter dwelling by break, enter dwelling with intent in company, enter dwelling with intent by break at night in company damages property, attempted enter dwelling with intent by break at night in company, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, wilful damage and common assault.
The man’s police bail was refused, and he is first expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court today, 14 September.
The arrest was one of the latest under Operation Yankee Forge, a state-wide operation targeting property offences, car theft and robbery.
Operation Yankee Forge is a six-month, district-led, statewide initiative targeting high-harm and high-volume offences, including unlawful use of motor vehicles, unlawful entry and robbery.
The operation will enhance policing activities across Queensland to reduce victim numbers and strengthen community safety.
Police regions, supported by specialist squads, will undertake coordinated disruption activities across the state. Police will target high-harm offenders and work closely with partner agencies to ensure offenders are held accountable. With a strong focus on crime prevention, police will be highly visible as they prevent, disrupt and investigate offending, with particular emphasis on unlawful use, robbery and unlawful entry.
The operation will be locally led and centrally coordinated, leveraging the knowledge and experience of officers who know their communities best.
