Yesterday, Thursday 22 June 2023 Child Abuse Squad detectives charged a 24-year-old man with an additional 55 offences as a result of their investigation into alleged indecent recording of children at a sports centre in Craigie.
The man was first arrested on Thursday 25 May 2023, after police were called to the sports centre in relation to an incident involving a child being recorded in a cubicle.
As part of the ongoing investigation Child Abuse Squad detectives identified 40 new victims and further charged the 24-year-old man, who is currently in prison, with 55 additional offences. The man is now charged with a total of 75 offences.
These additional charges are:
• 49 x Indecently Record a Child under 13 years; and
• 6 x Indecent Dealings with a Child under 13 years.
He is due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on the additional charges today, Friday 23 June 2023.
