A man will face court today after allegedly failing to stop for police and crashing his vehicle in Sydney’s west.
About 10.40pm yesterday (Wednesday 17 June 2026), officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attempted to stop a silver Toyota sedan on Roberts Road, Greenacre, after it was detected driving at excessive speed.
The driver – a 21-year-old man – allegedly failed to stop as directed.
Moments later – whilst attempting a right turn – the sedan hit a kerb before the driver left the scene on foot.
A brief foot pursuit commenced, where the driver allegedly jumped several fences before being arrested nearby.
The 21-year-old was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was subjected to testing, which returned a positive result for cannabis.
A secondary oral fluid sample has been sent for analysis.
He was charged with drive while license application refused, police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, and class A motor vehicle exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.
The man was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court today (Thursday 18 June 2026).
