A man has been taken to hospital with critical injuries following an assault in Mornington this afternoon.
Emergency services were called following reports a man had been found seriously injured outside a property in Cooba Court about 3.40pm.
The 41-year-old man was treated by ambulance paramedics and taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.
Responding police cordoned off the area and arrested a 35-year-old man shortly after. He will be interviewed in relation to the incident.
It is believed the two men are known to one another.
Mornington Peninsula Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding what occurred.
A crime scene has been established and officers from the Major Crime Scene Unit will process the scene.
