Man dies after being hit by car, NSW

A pedestrian has died after he was struck by a car in Sydney’s west last month.

About 3pm on Sunday 23 February 2020, the man was hit by an SUV driven by a 52-year-old woman as he was walking north on the footpath across Good Street Bridge at Harris Park.

NSW Ambulance attended and treated the man before he was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. The man died this morning (Tuesday 17 March 2020).

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command established a crime scene and arrested the driver who was taken to Granville Police Station.

The Crash Investigation Unit attended the scene and commenced inquiries.

The woman was charged with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm.

Following the death of the man, she will also face the additional charge of drive manner dangerous occasioning death when she appears at Parramatta Local Court today (Tuesday 17 March 2020).

A brief will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
