Man dies eight days after being hit by truck in Sydney’s Inner West

A man has died in hospital after being hit by a truck in Sydney’s Inner West last week.

About 4pm on Saturday 18 June 2022, emergency services were called to the intersection of New Canterbury Road and Frazer Street, Dulwich Hill, after reports of a crash.

Police were told a 76-year-old man had crossed Frazer Street when he was struck by an Isuzu truck.

Members of the public assisted the man before the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics. He was treated for head and pelvis injuries and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition.

Officers from Inner West Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist officers attached to the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

The truck driver, a 24-year-old man, was taken to hospital to undergo mandatory testing.

On Friday (24 June 2022), the 76-year-old man died in hospital.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for any witnesses, anyone that may have dashcam footage or information that may assist investigators to come forward.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
