Man extradited after damaging machinery worth $500,000 in Kingsgrove

Detectives from St George sought the extradition of a man in Perth yesterday after he allegedly damaged more than $500,000 of machinery in a Kingsgrove factory earlier this year.

Police have been told a 38-year-old man was at his workplace on The Crescent, Kingsgrove, on Thursday 15 August 2019, when he was told his employment was terminated.

It’s alleged the man got into a forklift and used it to smash machinery within the factory, then used a hammer to smash computer hardware.

He left the factory prior to arrival of police.

A warrant was issued for his arrest and yesterday (Wednesday 6 November 2019), he was arrested in Perth.

St George detectives were notified and travelled to Perth yesterday where they sought his extradition.

He was taken to St George Police Area Command where he was charged with malicious damage.

He has been refused bail and will appear in Sutherland Local Court today (Thursday 7 November 2019).
