Man faces court today on 16 charges of sexual assault at Armidale, NSW

A man will face court today on multiple sexual assault charges alleged to have occurred in the state’s Northern Tablelands.

About 8.30am yesterday (Tuesday 20 August 2019), officers attached to New England Police District arrested a man at his home on Golgotha Street at Armidale following an investigation into the sexual assault of two women between 2016 and 2017.

The man, aged 19, was taken to Armidale Police Station and charged with 16 offences, including:

  • Participate as client with child between 14 and 18 years in act of child prostitution
  • Sexual intercourse without consent (x4)
  • Assault with act of indecency (x5)
  • Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence (x2)
  • Common Assault (x4).

The accused was refused bail to appear before Armidale Local Court today (Wednesday 21 August 2019).
