Man found critically injured in Brunswick

Moreland Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information and witnesses after a man was found with critical injures in Brunswick this morning.

Police have been told a ride-share driver came across the unconscious man in the middle of Lygon Street, near Overend Street, shortly after 2.30am.

The man raised the alarm and emergency services attended the scene.

The injured 24-year-old North Melbourne man has been taken to hospital for treatment.

It is believed he is now in a serious but stable condition.

Detectives are working to establish the circumstances surrounding what happened to the man and are appealing for witnesses and or motorists with dashcam to come forward.

In particular they would like to speak to a female nurse who it is believed tended to the man and left the scene before officers were able to establish her details.
