Man in court after shooting at boat at Moulamein, NSW

A man will appear in court today charged with firearms offences after he allegedly shot at a boat containing two people in the state’s south west yesterday.

About 3.30pm (Friday 10 April 2020), officers from Murray River Police District were called to a boat ramp at Moulamein, about 100km north-west of Deniliquin, after reports of shots fired.

Two men – aged 41 and 39 – were on a boat at Billabong Creek, when they heard a man yelling, before shots were allegedly fired in their direction. The men immediately left the area and returned to the boat ramp.

A short time later, police arrested a 60-year-old man at Moulamein boat ramp, before he was taken to Deniliquin Police Station.

A search warrant was executed at a property in Moulamein, where police seized firearms and ammunition.

The man was charged with fire firearm manner likely injure persons, four counts of not keep firearm safely – not prohibited firearm, holder of licence not have approved storage and possess unregistered firearm.

He was refused bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Bail Court today (Saturday 11 April 2020).
