Man in critical condition after city assault, South Australia

Two men have been arrested following a serious assault in Hindley Street overnight.

A man is in a critical condition in the Royal Adelaide Hospital after being assaulted just before 1.30am on Saturday 1 February.

It will be alleged the men were involved in an altercation and the victim was knocked to the ground and then kicked.

The 26-year-old man sustained life-threatening head injuries and was taken to hospital by paramedics.

Two men were immediately arrested by police at the scene.

A 19-year-old Smithfield man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault cause serious harm and breach of bail. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

An 18-year-old Parafield Gardens man was also charged with affray and will appear in court on 13 March.
