Man leads police to second hydro house in Carlingford

A man – who’d been under investigation over a suspected hydro house in Carlingford – unwittingly led police to a second and unknown crop in a home less than 300m from the target location.

North West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad’s Strike Force Tassie-19 last month began investigating a suspect house in Karingal Avenue, Carlingford.

Police were outside the target home to execute a search warrant about 6.45pm yesterday (Thursday 17 October 2019), when they saw a man leaving the premises.

Officers followed him 280m to a house in Cressfield Avenue, Carlingford, where he was arrested.

On returning to the Karingal Avenue house, police located a hydroponic cannabis crop with an estimated potential street value of $1 million.

Officers applied for a second search warrant for the Cressfield Avenue property and discovered the second – previously unknown – crop which has an estimated potential street value of $250,000.

A 29-year-old man was taken to Castle Hill Police Station where he has now been charged with cultivate prohibited plant (large commercial), cultivate prohibited plant (commercial), and stealing electricity (two counts).

He’s been bail refused to Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 18 October 2019).
