Two people have been charged following an investigation into a brawl in the state’s south, under Strike Force Arctis.
Officers attached to Riverina Police District established Strike Force Arctis in September 2026 to investigate a number of aggravated break and enters, home invasions and firearm-related incidents.
About 4.30pm on Sunday 13 September 2026, officers from Riverina Police District attended Edgehill Place, Tolland, following reports of a brawl.
Officers were told up to 10 people were involved in the brawl, in which one person allegedly produced a firearm.
The group involved left the location prior to the arrival of police. The were no reports of any injuries.
Police commenced inquiries into the circumstance surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, about 7.25pm yesterday (Monday 14 September 2026), a 17-year-old boy was arrested at Wagga Wagga Police Station.
He was charged with possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority and acquire etc firearm subject to prohibition order.
The 17-year-old was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Children’s Court today (Tuesday 15 September 2026).
Following further inquiries, about 6am today, officers from Riverina Police District, with the assistance of the Tactical Operations Unit, executed a search warrant a home on Connorton Avenue, Ashmont.
During the search warrant, investigators allegedly located and seized clothing and electronic devices that will be forensically examined.
Officers arrested a 24-year-old man, and he was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority.
The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 5 today (Tuesday 15 September 2026).
Investigations under Strike Force Arctis are ongoing.
